Presently residing in the Southern California desert, Rachael continues a lifelong vocation of fine arts with the creation of pastel and oil color artworks covering a range of subjects.

Her technique with the pastels presented here was developed after a long and careful study of the works of Edgar Degas and others. As a long-time student of Rosicrucian philosophy, she enjoys exploring the language of symbols and often uses them in her work. While the main image tells the story of how something looks, the symbols speak to the emotions about a feeling. Viewers often do not realize these mystic symbols are present, but they respond to them and experience the emotional nature of the art. Although the symbols used on the cover of Book One are subtle, as Rachael says,

"Unburdened by ponderous beliefs, young eyes are quick to see and understand what can be said in no other way."
