Early 2011 Writing Contest Winners
First Place: Buna's New World
Prize: two great silver pieces and print publication (in NEBADOR Book Five: Back to the Stars)
Karen Buchanan, 14, Quebec: "I love writing in either French or English, and I like the style of these books, but I have my own ideas too."
"Yes!"
Second Place: First Taste of Freedom
Prize: a great silver piece and print publication (in NEBADOR Book Five: Back to the Stars)
Katelynn Persons, 16, Oregon: "Acting isn't a hobby, it's a way of life." The words I live by. I eat, sleep, and breathe performing and literature. At any time of day you can find me writing, acting, dancing, reading, or in other words just about any literature or performing art you could imagine. I love people, and I love meeting new people and being around different types of people. I don't hate anybody. I love diversity. Performing has been in my life since a young age, and I never plan on letting it leave; it's my number one passion. But on the off chance that I'm not doing any of the above, you'd probably find me making plans with friends, on the computer, or trying to give advice to friends in need. I absolutely love country and rock music, along with a little of everything else in between. AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, Darius Rucker, and Rascal Flatts are some of my favorites, just to name a few. Reba McEntire is my hero! Not only for her incredible music ability but also for her extraordinary acting, and unbelievable heart of gold. My parents are my mentors, my heroes, and the ones I'll never stop loving. My little brother is a brat, but has a golden heart, and nobody is aloud to mess with him except for me. I love people, school, art, along with unlimited and artistic self-expression.
"Awesome, thank you so much for all your help! Can't wait!"

"I won!? Oh my goodness, thank you so much!! That is so exciting! Can't wait!"
Second Place: Rini and the Old Slave
Prize: a great silver piece and web publication
Terri, 12, Nevada: This feels really real and you don't make promises you can't keep. I hate myspace and things like that cause they promise lots of friends and it doesn't happen unless you'r pretty or funny. I'm serious and I want to know all about things. I love science and math. No one likes people like that. I'm not a vamp-lover and not going to be one. I've read 1 and 2. Please put me in the citizens. I like Tera because we have almost the same name and there are donkeys near my house.
"I'm sososo happy! I've never won anything before! Thank you soso much for all the help writing it!"
